Tried & True Tofu

I told myself that I would not put any recipes on here unless I've tried it myself and it was good. Here's an Hawaiian Tofu Recipe that hit the spot...

Ingredients
2 Packs Extra Firm Tofu
Cut each block into 6 slices
Hand squeeze all excess water out of Tofu

Blend Together
1/4 cup of fresh ginger
2 cloves garlic
6 sticks fresh thyme
1/3 cup Worchestire sauce or Liquid Amino
3 tsp. chicken style seasoning
1/4 tsp hot pepper or 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
2 tsp paprika
2 tbs peanut butter
2 tbs olive oil

Coat each slice of tofu with this mixture on each slice
Bake at 300 until golden brown
Bake for 20 minutes on each side

Sauce
1 Onion chopped
1 Cup sliced mushrooms
1 tbs olive oil
Chopped fresh garlic
Add
1 cup tomato sauce or marinara sauce
2 tbs raw sugar
1/4 cup lemon juice
2 tbs of apricot or pineapple reserves

Finally
Pour over baked Tofu Slices
Add 1 cup sliced peppers and return to over for a few more minutes
Pour sauce on Tofu and serve

Let us know if/when you try this, and how it turned out.

  1. That was indeed a nice recipe. Here's a really easy Gluten recipe that I was pleasantly surprised by.

    Barbecue Gluten (Seitan) Sandwich

-Spay skillet with vegetable cooking spray or olive oil
-Add 1 medium onion, diced and saute for 5 min
-Add 8-12 ounces seitan ( and saute for 1-2 min
-Add 1/4 cup bbq sauce and stir to combine
-season to taste (I used garlic, oregano and black pepper)
    -Serve on whole wheat bun.

I suggest you focus on the bbq sauce with this one. That determines the primary flavor. Also, if you used canned gluten, I suggest pouring/draining the liquid from the can and even washing the gluten with water first.

Let us know what you think.
